CHARLES PACHTER "YELLOW MOUNTIE" 1970

Charles Pachter is one of the most collected and cherished Canadian artists.

His iconic, uplifting and patriotic images have independently earned their place in the nation's museums.

For the uninitiated his work is accessible and beloved (notably his amazing hockey mural at Toronto's College Street subway station).

While Pachter’s work shares some characteristics with Jim Dine and David Hockney, his style is resoundingly charming, singular and uniquely Canadian.

The barn, along with Queen Elizabeth and the moose, form a trio of icons that Pachter has repeatedly visited over the course of his career.

Pachter’s graphics are an ideal choice for starting a collection of Canadian art.

This work was created in Calgary in 1970 and is officially called "Noblesse Oblige" (although normally referred to as "Yellow Mountie".

Additional images available on request.
